Good news for Bryan firefighters as one of their own is out of the hospital after battling a grass fire, one that is finally under control.
The firefighter was taken from the scene off of Leonard Road with heat exhaustion. That fire started around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.
Thick brush, mesquite and trees fed the flames, and Bryan and Brazos County equipment had a difficult time getting into the area. Firefighters called for a bulldozer to cut around the fire, and just after 8:30 this evening, officials began leaving the scene.
Officials will return Wednesday to access the damage and try to determine a cause. No structures were damaged in the fire. Preliminary estimates have the size of the fire at 20 acres.
