Applicants wanting to rezone 35 acres near Sebesta Road in College Station have withdrawn their application. As such, a public hearing set for Wednesday night has been canceled.
The attorney representing the applicants said the recommendation that would have gone before the city council tomorrow was not what they thought they had agreed to in their request to create commercial and office property.
Residents were concerned about potential traffic problems.
But Thursday's public hearing on another rezoning request is still a go. Weingarten Realty wants to create a commercial center off Rock Prairie Road. Residents have been strongly against the proposal, and the planning and zoning commission has not recommended the changes.
The council will hear both sides Thursday at 7pm at A&M Consolidated's auditorium.
