A hotly-debated rezoning request will be heard by College Station's city council Thursday.
There will be a public hearing on the proposed development of 50 acres at the southeast corner of Highway 6 and Rock Prairie Road. The meeting at A&M Consolidated's auditorium is scheduled to start at 7pm.
Weingarten Realty is proposing large commercial development in that area, one that would likely include a Super Wal-Mart. Residents in that area have been extremely vocal about potential traffic congestion, noise and neighborhood integrity as a result.
While city staff has recommended approving the zoning changes, the planning and zoning commission recommended denying it.
