It was an overflow crowd at Margarita Rocks in College Station Tuesday night, as local democrats gathered to watch election results.

Several people in the crowd became emotional as Barack Obama was named the winner.

I've been working so hard for my children for my daughter, 22, and my son ,18. Its for their future and I'm sorry I'm so emotional but this is a long time and since 1973 I've been working for this. It's all about our future for our kids," said Terri Pourahmadi.

"I'm just floored. I'm so excited I think he's going to do great things and I think the positive message that he carries and spreads is going to be a huge part, and in the world's eyes on an international level this is such a progressive step," said Michael Madison.

"I think it means that in America that its changing; that the color of your skin doesn't keep you from doing anything that you want, regardless of what people thought before I think there was somewhat of a glass ceiling," said Nikki Williams.

It is also says in the chapters of John that anyone who does not believe that Jesus is the son of GOD and that HE is the only path to God is against GOD. If you are against GOD than you are an anti-christ. Even now there are many anti-christs among us: Obama (who claims to be Christian) in his book stated that there are several paths to GOD and his girlfriend -Oprah continues to announce the New age thinking of several paths to GOD. The gate to HEAVEN is a very narrow one. Christians believe that there is only one way to GOD and it is through JESUS CHRIST. To believe otherwise means you are an ANTI-CHRIST.

hey laughing...this must mean affirmative action is OVER. we have overcome...we are now equal. good luck

Posted by: shocked at the anger Location: bryan,tx on Nov 6, 2008 at 11:28 PM
there obviously is alot of anger here. fact is PRESIDENT OBAMA is the ceo whether we like it or not. what can you do about it? go howling with you tails tucked between your legs, barking hatred all the way. i promise you, it will not change the fact that he has been elected. for those idiots who think blacks elected him: did you see the crowd in the park in chicago? i saw numerous white people there. the american people have spoken clearly as to their choice. why did the whites fail mccain? since yall say the blacks elected barack? were there not enough of you to get your candidate in office? don't complain; it's your fault.

In the good book (the bible)Romans 13:1 states that nothing happens unless God allows it to happen. Also be mindful that in Proverbs 10:24 states that what the wicked fears will come upon him, so if any one wants to fuss, fight, complain, and stay angry about what's really going on, read your scriptures with an open mind and you'll gain alot of insight of his purpose, just as the last shall be first and the first shall be last, are about the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17ff.

You guys are a bunch of REDNEKS!!!!!We did not like who was running "THE SHOW" for 8 YEARS but we put up with it. SO DEAL WITH IT OR MOVE!!!!!!

Posted by: LAUGHING AT YOU HATERS Location: BRYAN on Nov 6, 2008 at 12:54 PM
YOU PEOPLE ARE SO FUNNY... ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT. NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ALL YOUR CRYING AND SOBING OR YOUR RACIAL REMARKS. OBAMA IS PRESIDENT AND THAT'S THAT. NONE OF YOU HATERS CAN CHANGE IT, HE AND HIS FAMILY ARE PROTECTED BY GOD AND THEY WILL PROSPER. THIS EVENT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. AS FAR THE "WE SHALL OVER COME" REMARK THAT I READ....GUESS WHAT? WE HAVE OVER CAME AND WE CAN NOT BE HELD DOWN! NOW I SAY, MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF US AS ONE NATION UNDER OUR NEW LEADER PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA! (YES WE CAN!) AND WE DID! YOU ALL HAVE A BLESSED DAY. ;-)

This is a DISGRACE!!! To This Nation

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2008 at 10:20 AM
People keep saying that if we do not like the choice for Obama, then we can move. What is that all about? Isn't this America? Isn't everyone entitled to their opinion? And for the LAST TIME...I don't care what color the man is...his policies and ideals are against a lot of my core beliefs and I WILL make my opinions known.

Campaigning for presidents=$10 million dollars, new clothes for the campaign trail=$28,000 dollars, listening to frustrated Rush and all his ditto heads talk about how they now have to deal with Barak= PRICELESS!!!!

Posted by: Brian on Nov 6, 2008 at 07:46 AM
I feel bad for the black community who just elected such an unqualified, deceitful man to be president. It won't take long for them realize their mistake. Also, does this mean the end of affirmative action?

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 5, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Boycott Margarita Rocks in College Station! It is the home of the liberal minded, gay supporting socialist nitwits!

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 5, 2008 at 10:16 PM
Obama won because he was black, he was not old, he is nice-looking and doesn't have scars of war on him, he's unknown and inexperienced; therefore you can't hold anything against him; he was publicly endorsed by his wanna-be black girlfried-Oprah and boyfried-Colin Powell (again because he was black);by those who love money (their 401K's) above anything else; by those who are foolish to believe a great speaker is one who can read a written speech very well;endorsed by the Clinton's who are hoping he will help them by eliminating their millions in campaign debt;because he is not a fat man; because they like his wife- Michelle and don't know that she wrote a racist thesis in college;because he is loved by the gay population - Obama believes in same-sex marriages;because he was truly loved by the MEDIA who chose this candidate and made sure every speech, every photo, every comment was edited so you only got to see what they wanted you to see.

Truly a sad and scary time for America. I would welcome a black man - a black man who stands on principles and absolutes---the likes of Clarence Thomas, J.C. Watts, and even a black woman. Condeleeza Rice would have been a very effective pick for McCain and very worthy to one day take the role of the first black AND the first woman president. But not Obama. I'll bet many of you saluting him on this post don't even know who those great, principled leaders are of your race. You simply voted for the black man. And I say how selfish of you to think of only your race and NOT your country. Who cares what his far left agenda will do to our nation and how this is the beginning of the end of the freedoms so many enjoy in this great land. So who is the racist here? I'de say the one who votes for color, not on issues and therefore cares nothing at all for the direction of his country! I too will never refer to him as my president but again, would be happy to do so for the right black man

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 5, 2008 at 06:49 PM
So all of these "racist" comments are out of line. I just re-read the thread and I only found ONE person who is not excited about Obama that mentioned race. People have lots of reasons for voting against Obama. I've heard a lot of them, but race has not be one of them. Obama is our president, whether you voted for him or not. That's how our democracy works. We move forward as a nation. It does NOT make you an evil person or ignorant or racist if you voted for another candidate. It just means you thought another candidate was a better choice. Let's appreciate that we can have a difference of opinion and still be intelligent people.

I am just shocked that people are ok with having elected a Muslim to run our country. I couldn't care less what color he is - if he can't salute the flag he obviously doesn't care too much about this place. What irritates me and it was proven last night that there were millions of uneducated people that have never stepped foot near a ballot that registered to vote only because this man is black - and we are the racist ones - isn't that ironic!! As one college student said when asked what made her vote for obama she simply said "he's black" I am sure she has no idea what his views on the issues even were!!!

Posted by: reality Location: b cs on Nov 5, 2008 at 04:45 PM
who thinks he was elected by blacks that had never voted and only voted for his color.....

Posted by: Aggie12 Location: Walton Hall on Nov 5, 2008 at 03:38 PM
Tiffinay, don't let this fact shock you that there are so many closed minded people here. Nevertheless, just as the election proved there are open-minded whites that are willing to move forward and to help this nation move forward. As for those closed minded, inbreed, hillbillies don't worry about them. Like the doe-doe bird they will one day be extinct. Go Obama, Go Bill Turner, Go Chet Edwards!!! WHOOP!!! Gig 'em OBAMA!!!

hey anomymous if you dont like texas...move...

Posted by: Tiffany Location: Thompson on Nov 5, 2008 at 02:53 PM
I moved to this city five years ago from Miami Florida. It is really sad to see that all the things that people say about small towns in Texas seems to be true. I thought because this was a college town that would lend it's self to at the very least intelect. I may have been wrong. I have noticed some people suffer from the same ignorant views of their forefathers. I am a hard working parent of four children, am not on any welfare and help the community anyway I can. I guess it will never be good enough. I ofetn wonder what you think this world would have been like if Black people had not bring brought here to do the diryt work, raise your kids, your cattle, show you how to farm rice( by the way you guys did not know what that was before you brought us here). We have a black president. Get over it. You have had 43 white ones. Hopefully after this we will have a the privalage to have a woman, Spanish,Asian,Or Indian (remember them) Get it together.

Most of you guys are all ignorant.... A bunch of red-staters with blinders on, who cant come to grips with the fact that America has grown up in the last 4 years. America spoke... And if you don't like it... Move.. Obama is our president, and all of us that voted for him deserve him.... McCain is too old, and we would all be in trouble if Palin got anywhere near DC!!!!! America made the right choice, even if the majority of Texas didn't!!!! A lot of peoople in this state voted on color, if he was white, half of these posts would not be on here.. I am ashamed to be lumped into the label of "Texan" with the rest of you. A buncha ignorant racists in this town...HAHAHAHAHa... Obama Won!!!!! Move if you don't like it.....

Posted by: Annonymous Location: College Station on Nov 5, 2008 at 01:11 PM
I am very impressed with Obama and his message of unity. Even before he became the Democratic nominee, he had said that if elected, he would be everybody's president (regardless of race, religion, color or creed) and that impressed me a lot. His temperament is also very good and he will make a great US President and a great world leader that other countries will respect. Frankly speaking, I agree with General Collin Powell when he explained why he endorsed Obama. I also believe that Michelle Obama will make a great First Lady. God bless President-elect Obama and his loved ones!

Posted by: Jeff Location: College Station on Nov 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM
Close to 70% of Brazos county went for McCain. This gathering had to be small. In any case, congrats to Obama supporters.

I echo WOW!! Too bad...the "change" people have been celebrating will only be more politics and smoke screens. The man we made our president yesterday has promised to "raise teachers salaries" and "spread the wealth"...come on people, are you really that ignorant?? Raising teacher's salaries is not something the president really has control over and "spreading the wealth" is only saying what the itching ears of the welfare recipients want to hear. We are in for some change alright...it's all we will have left after having to pay for everyone else's free ride.

Posted by: Terry Location: Bryan on Nov 5, 2008 at 10:12 AM
It's really a sad day for this country, we just took a step back...way back.. You think government had control before, now it will be much worse, the dependance on govt. assistance will be so great that people will not be able to take care of themselves anymore. I really feel sorry for the next president, he will have his hands full trying to ween the poverty stricken dependants of the govt. breast. I feel ashamed and disgusted at the way the votes were obtained...Like Oprah said last night...Even drug addicts have a voice...and they spoke!...what a proud endorsement!....I feel sorry for our military also, they do not deserve what Obama is going to do to them.....I will NEVER refer to obama as "President"...he is just "obama". The man who pulled the wool over a nations eyes.

Let's see...Obama said in an interview that the American flag is oppressive to people in this country and that his wife hates the American flag for personal reasons...Maybe they'll change the stars and stripes to one with a beer keg(to satisfy the Margarita Rocks crowd), food stamps, government clinics, peace symbols, beans and rice, ....you get the point. Way to go Democraps. You really outdid yourselves this year! I can't wait to bash the goverment and BO at every turn, even when the weather isn't to my liking. I'm so looking forward to getting to blame all these crooks in D.C. when my pantyhose has a run in it. Now THAT'S change! Losers.

Why not add Fix Illegal Immigration to the KBTX poll today? That would drastically reduce the load on our healthcare system, reduce billions on other areas to help the economy.

Not sure you should be proud of socialism. Amazing! Simply Amazing! The dumbing down of America couldn't be anymore clear here. I'll keep my freedom, my guns, and my money, and you can keep "THE CHANGE".
