Killer of Five-Year-Old Set to Die

Texas is preparing to carry out its second execution in as many days.

Forty-year-old Robert Anderson of Amarillo faces lethal injection tonight over the 1992 abduction and slaying of a girl.

The victim was five-year-old Audra Reeves.

The girl lived with her mother in Florida, but had arrived in Amarillo days earlier to spend the summer with her father.

Anderson's history of sexual offenses involving children began as a teenager.

He's asked that no additional appeals be filed on his behalf.

Anderson would be the 16th condemned killer in Texas to have his punishment carried out this year.

The state last night executed Mauriceo Brown.

Brown was convicted over the 1996 shooting death of Michael LaHood Junior during a botched robbery outside the victim's San Antonio home.

Brown went to his death apologizing to LaHood's family.
