A carjacking suspect is behind bars in Collin County this morning after a three-hour police chase Sunday.
Authorities say 32-year-old Samuel Scott Jones is accused of commandeering an 18-wheeler and holding the driver hostage during the chase.
Police disabled the truck with gunfire on Interstate 20 on the western edge of Fort Worth.
The truck driver escaped to safety and Jones was subdued with tear gas after an hourlong standoff. Traffic on I-20 was shut down in both directions during the ordeal.
Collin County sheriff's Lieutenant John Norton says Jones, who is from Dallas, faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping. He was to be arraigned today.
Norton identified the truck driver as Christie Bundrun, of Allen. The 51-year-old was reunited with family members at the sheriff's department early this morning.
The chase began in Collin County and continued into Dallas and Tarrant counties.
Police say the man is also suspected of hijacking two cars at gunpoint earlier yesterday afternoon.
