Texas homeowners with Farmers Insurance coverage could be facing a nearly 10 percent rate hike by mid-February.

The Texas Department of Insurance is reviewing the company’s rate increase, which was filed this week.

Farmers Insurance officials said the hike has been in the planning stage for months and isn't a result of Hurricanes Dolly and Ike.

Rate goes up...I go elsewhere for insurance. It's that simple.
