He is described as "the most anti-gun presidential candidate in history", in literature by the National Rifle Association.
Now that Barack Obama is headed for the White House, some Texans are heading for gun stores.
Saturday in the Brazos Valley was no different.
"This is at least five times busier than we ever see," said Mike Stulce, owner of Champion Firearms.
Its been that way at the College Station gun store, since Wednesday.
"We didn't think that much about it the morning after the election," said Stulce. "I looked outside and there were people down the sidewalk and I was like wonder what Starbucks is doing? Then we open up the door and this whole room was just packed."
It was the store's busiest day in 14 years.
"We haven't seen anything like that since the last Crime Bill," said Stulce.
The Crime Bill is a ban on assault weapons President Clinton signed into law in 1994. It expired under President Bush in 2004.
"We're afraid some of the policies may change with the new presidency so we're in here looking for some safety guns," said shopper Stefanie Maiwelmal.
Store managers say she isn't the only customer who feels that way.
"That gun we just looked at was the last one they had. They've sold four this week alone," said Maiwelmal.
Employees say the store is completely out of one assault rifle. They've sold 30 of them in two days.
"You know people's beliefs can be whatever they want, but I think some people are kinda freaking out a little bit, especially if you're a Texan," said Maiwelmal.
The run on guns it's a trend that may continue until Barack Obama's January inauguration.
"Only thing is, I think everybody's going to be out of guns," said Stulce.
Maybe not everybody will be out guns, but its possible many stores could be.
In a 2004 Illinois Senate Debate, Barack Obama stated assault weapons had only one purpose, which was to kill people.
He also called President Bush's failure to authorize a renewal on the assault weapons ban, "a scandal."

An "Assault Weapon" is one that is capable of Full-Automatic fire (Machine gun). Most of the firearms discussed here are simply "Military Lookalikes" & semi-automatic only. As someone stated, civilian ownership of full auto weapons is very restricted by the federal government. On May 19, 1986, President Reagan banned the future manufacture of fully automatic weapons for transfer & sale to civilians. The cost of the fully transferable ones has skyrocketed ever since. Those made after 05-19-86 are only available to the government(s) & foreign contracts, except that Federally Licensed Class 2 (Manufacturers) & 3 (Dealers) firearms dealers can manufacture/acquire them to serve as prototypes and/or sales samples. The Federal Government saw that these weapons were generally unpopular with the general public, because of ignorance. If the government can ban a group of such highly restricted & regulated firearms with no history of misuse since 1934, are our deer/duck/black guns next???
Tell the people of NOLA that they did not need this type of weapon.
He is not for banning all guns. You can still shoot your deer and rabbits. He want a ban on assault weapons. No one outside of the military should be able to buy ak-47's or anything else like that. I cant stand Obama, but I'm all for some limits.
