A&M Student Among Cyber Crimes Arrests

Two Brazos Valley men are among four people arrested by the Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Unit.

Guadalupe DeLaGarza III, 26, was arrested in Shenandoah back on July 18. The Texas A&M grad student is alleged to have chatted with who he believed was a 14-year-old girl on MySpace, then travelled to Montgomery County to have sex with her. That 14-year-old was an investigator.

Authorities say DeLaGarza arrived at the location with condoms, restraints and a handgun. He faces charges of attempted sexual assault with a minor and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Also arrested in the Shenandoah operation was William Shrum, 25, of The Woodlands. He is also accused of chatting with a minor on MySpace and arranging an encounter.
