Gubernatorial Candidates to Debate

By  |

A televised debate is scheduled for October Fifth for Texas gubernatorial candidates.

Aides say Democrat Chris Bell and independent candidates Kinky Friedman and Carole Keeton Strayhorn will take part. A spokesman for Republican Governor Rick Perry says his campaign hasn't decided yet whether he'll participate.

Meantime, eleven mayors in the heavily Democratic Rio Grande Valley are giving their support to Republican Governor Rick Perry.

Perry yesterday touted his efforts to get Mexico to pay on a long-standing debt of Rio Grande Valley water. The governor also talked about tort reform successes that he says has doctors returning to the Valley.
