Protesters rallied Monday outside the Lamar County Courthouse in East Texas, galvanized by a dragging death to demonstrate against a justice system they consider racist.

About 60 people, led by a contingent from the New Black Panther Party, gathered Monday to call attention to the death of Brandon McClelland.

Authorities say that two other men, both of them white, purposely ran over and killed McClelland, a black man, after an argument on the way home from a late-night beer run in September.

The incident came 10 years after James Byrd, Jr. was chained to the back of a pickup and dragged for three miles in Jasper, another East Texas town.

Alex I in one respect I agree but on the other America has a long way to go. When I look at Corporate America and it's workforce/workplace I see it plain as day. The courts are doing it far worse than the media has time to tell us. It's not ignorance but the refusal of America to look at the ugly facts. Racism is both conscious/subconscious and we are all bigots to some degree which stems from not understanding why a person lives/acts a certain way and we try to coax them to act otherwise. Well coaxing has turned into a break one's spirit game and that game is costly and America is slowly waking up to this billion's of dollar fact! Alex let me ask you this, After seeing entry level jobs that were once held by inner city and rural America either go abroad or be snatched up by illegals. What would you do if you found yaself unemployed today with no money in the bank (Taxes too high because of Racism ya know?) Can you say Reeducation Crash Coarse Homeless,Stealing,Selling dope,Jail?

Last time I checked, we were living in the year 2009. Simply to say that this is a "racist" crime only proves the people concerned with the victim are racist themselves. Racism has been too much of an ongoing issue for too long. America has eliminated racism in almost every aspect of daily life for not just black people, but people of every race and religion and such-most any type of prejudice has been eliminated in professional and lawful acts (not to say, however, that it doesn't exist). I think these idiots should absolutely be sent to a penitentiary for this and I believe the majority of American citizens agree, as well, but to label this as a "hate crime" just shows the ignorance of the everyday American.

Ben remember Florida? And Dan to see this hurts it really does. We must stop racist before they grow up so people we must stop teaching hate from childhood to adulthood this sickness must be eradicated. America I challenge you to stop this sickness cold, How you ask? By confronting racist comments jokes and the like right on the spot! Yes I know it's uncomfortable to do but it must be done! Period! WE are a great country who put the 1st man on the moon WE broke speed and sports records. WE have sooo much technology till it ain't even funny. WE lay our lives down for people in other countries that we don't even know err??? LOVE? =) If WE can do all this and more (Not enough room on this page) We can stop racism before it starts and move forward and show the world that we can not only stop other people in other countries from this barbaric behavior WE can stop ourselves! WE practice what we preach. Let's not let America die with a tombstone of hate on her grave -Amen?
