Getting neighborhoods and police departments together before crime happens is the goal of National Night Out, an event that happens every August 1.
Neighborhoods across the Twin Cities hosted parties, inviting their neighbors in so they could all get a chance to know each other. Police officers stopped by to talk about crime fighting tips neighborhoods can take, including just watching out for unusual happenings on their streets.
Tuesday also served as a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
