For years its provided a safe haven for children abused by adults. Now Scotty's House has a new home.
Board members, staff and supporters broke ground on a new Bryan facility Thursday in the 1700 block of East Villa Maria.
The spacious center will be a welcomed relief to the cramped conditions of the old Scotty's House. It'll give staff more room to examine and counsel kids as well as additional office space.
Scotty's House opened in Bryan-College Station in 1995. The nonprofit organization offers a supportive and nurturing environment for children who've been abused.

Thank you for your coverage of Scotty's House groundbreaking ceremony. The committed staff and volunteers not only deserve a new facility, but desperately need more space to provide the vital services they render for all involved parties. Sheriff Chris Kirk presented a touching scope of Scotty's House needs and history. As unfortunate as it is that we need the work Scotty's House provide, may God bless all those who provide tender loving care to the innocent each and every day.
