Bryan tax payers could be getting a big break from the school district.
Bryan ISD school board members Monday passed a proposed tax rate of a $1.64, which is 14 cents less than last year.
The cut is partly because of the legislature's restructuring of the school finance system.
Last year, the district saw the biggest one-year hike in more than a decade because of the bond election for district projects.
Before the board can adopt the new rate, it will hold a public hearing on Monday, Aug. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bryan ISD Administration Building.
