A Caldwell woman was injured Thursday in Bryan after enjoying Thanksgiving Day with her family. It happened just seconds after she opened the front door at the 800 block of Commerce Street in Bryan.

"I didn't see it coming," Rosa Regmund said.

Rosa Regmund had just finished a Thanksgiving feast and was leaving her father's house, heading to her car. That's when a PT Cruiser full of teenagers started approaching...

"I was bending down to open the car door, and then about the time I looked up..."

Regmund heard a noise, followed by a burning sensation.

"I just put my hand over my eye, and then I felt something wet and I said 'Oh my God I'm bleeding', I got shot," Regmund said.

At least that's what she thought. As it turns out, Regmund hadn't been shot with a real gun or bullet, but a paintball gun, along with red paint ammunition.

"I saw the kids they were laughing and giggling and carrying on. I think they thought it was hilarious," Regmund said.

"That happened to my mom on Thanksgiving, these kids don't have nothing better to do than just randomly shoot people," Regmund's Daughter Jennifer Zapata said.

Regmund's eye now bears a small welt, and her car has splatters of red paint.

"All of this is still full of paint. My clothes were full of paint, my glasses, full of paint," Regmund said.

And although the situation scared Regmund more than anything else, she says it could have done much more.

"I guess my glasses saved me, because if it wasn't for my glasses I think they would have shot my eyeball out," Regmund said.

As for the teens who fired the shot, Regmund now has both her eyes on the lookout for them.

"These kids need to be taught a lesson," Regmund said.

Rosa Regmund contacted police immediately after the incident. She says they told her that they've heard about this going on, but that not many people actually report it.

Regmund was able to give police a good description of the car, and some of the teens inside. Police also took pictures of her injuries.

I personally know Mrs Regmund and she is a very nice lady. This is very uncalled for especially in the recent tragedies that have hit Bryan. Two uncalled for murders with no captures or convictions. What we need is a city wide rally to stop the violence. As a parent I would hope that my children would know better than to do something as shameful as this, but you don't know what their friends will do. I hope that all this mess stops and our streets become safer soon.

Hey J.B. The parents are in all probability protecting these monsters. I feel the parents know what the kids have done!

WHY DON'T THE PARENTS OF ANY CHILD WHO HAS A PT CRUISER TRACE THEIR CHILDS ACTIVITY ON THAT DAY AND SEE IF THEY MAY HAVE BEEN RIDING AROUND W/FRIENDS AND QUESTION THEM...OR BETTER YET HAVE AUTHORITIES QUESTION THEM...THEN SUSPEND THEIR LICENSES 5 YEARS.IN THIS DAY AND TIME THEY ARE LUCKY SOMEONE DIDN'T PULL OUT A GUN AND START SHOOTING BACK.
