Bryan Council Talks Baseball, Commuter Rail

In addition to the Justice Center discussion, Bryan's council heard a couple other major items in their workshop session Tuesday.

Representatives from the Houston area spoke about proposed commuter rail service that would reach the Brazos Valley. If the local leaders go in on the deal, the project could reach the Twin Cities in the next few years.

Prairie View, Hempstead and Navasota are also proposed stops for the line.

The council also heard details on the semi-pro baseball summer league that could call Bryan home. Infinity Pro Sports has proposed a 10-year deal with the city for use of Travis Field.

Bryan ISD agreed last night to allow use of the high school field in case of conflicting schedules. A main concern had been scheduling the new team's games around current local teams.

The council asked to have this issue on their next council agenda.
