Five Washington County jail employees are facing a long time on the other side of the bars.

Sergeant of Jail Administration Gladys Johnson, Corporals Linda Martin and Latoya Rogers, Medical Technician Maryilyn Siglar and Work Crew Supervisor Patricia Slaughter were indicted November 25 for tampering with a government document.

Investigators say the five received hundreds of dollars of food stamps after fraudulently applying for assistance following Hurricane Ike.

All were fired from their jobs at the Washington County jail. They will make their first court appearances December 2 to enter pleas for the third-degree felonies.
