Bird Tests Positive For West Nile

A blue jay found off Sweetwater Drive tested positive for West Nile virus.

According to the Health Department the positive results came back Wednesday August 9. Sweetwater Drive is in the Sweetwater subdivision off Greens Prairie Road in College Station.

All of the resident in the area will be alerted by phone. Because Brazos County has already tested positive for West Nile, ALL residents are urged to follow the 4 -D's. They are:

Drain standing water around the house.
Wear insect repellent containing DEET.
Stay indoors at Dusk and Dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
Dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors to prevent bites.
