Bryan Closes In On City Manager Selection

Bryan city officials will spend the next week pouring over the bios of their three finalists for the city manager spot.

The city council has scheduled a Saturday morning executive session to discuss and possibly name a lone candidate for the job.

Of the three people up for the job, only one is from out of state: Clearwater, Florida's assistant city manager, Garry Brumback. The others are Tomball's Theo Vaults, a manufacturing manager, and Bryan's Deputy City Manager, Joey Dunn.

A fourth candidate, Huntsville City Manager Kevin Evans, has decided to stay put at his job and withdraw his name from discussion.

The city and their consultants quickly whittled down their extensive list to reach this point. The Atlanta-based Mercer Group, who also conducted the search for College Station's city manager, was hired by Bryan.

The former city manager of Bryan, Mary Kaye Moore, retired in February. Kean Register of Bryan Texas Utilities has been serving in the position as acting city manager. He has repeatedly declined to take the position full-time.
