State Troopers say an 86-year-old Bryan woman died Saturday, after being thrown from a vehicle. Officers said a worn-out tire and the woman's failure to wear a seat belt were to blame.

The crash happened around 10:30a.m. on Highway 30 East, several hundred feet from William D. Fitch Parkway.

Department of Public Safety Officers said tread from a rear tire separated, causing 49-year-old Charles Poland to lose control of a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trax.

Troopers said Poland and his 12-year-old daughter were both wearing seat belts, and stayed in the vehicle as it rolled down the embankment, but that Poland's 86-year-old mother was not buckled in and was ejected.

Miriam Poland was taken to College Station Medical Center by ambulance, but died.

Charles Poland and his daughter were also taken to the hospital, and released.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ms. Poland. Tires aren't cheap, but this proves how they're worth the money. This is a very sad time, I'm sure for the family. May God rest this woman's soul and be with the family during this time. I'm glad that the daughter and her father are safe.

I work for an auto repair shop and I can't tell you how many people won't buy, or just don't care about their tires. People, anything 3/32 or under is a hazzard. Get your tires checked, and put new tires on your auto when they are needed. Don't be cheap--this could happen to you. My heart goes out to the family....
