Some special holiday hugs were passed out Monday to patients at the College Station Medical Center.
Workers from the Blood Center of the Brazos Valley delivered teddy bears to children and their parents who will have to spend Christmas in the hospital.
50 of the soft toys were distributed, which also came along with hand written well-wishes from local blood donors.
"When people donate blood they just want to help the community. So this is another way that they can see the benefits of their blood donation. This is another way that they can touch patients here - premature babies, cancer patients and others that really need an extra boost,” said Sheena Abraham, who works for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
Abraham said the Blood Center of the Brazos Valley plans to make the bear delivery an annual event.
