A pair of water wells in Somerville have exceeded the state standards for TTHMs, an organic compound formed when chlorine reacts to naturally-occuring organic matter.
As a result, the city is changing their disinfecting methods. Some water residents are receiving is tan in color, but officials say the water is drinkable.
Drinking water with excess TTHMs for many years can experience health problems.
