Strong thunderstorms inundated parts of Amarillo --- flooding streets and stranding cars.
Jose Garcia, chief meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Amarillo, says water was at least 2 feet high in some areas.
He says yards, homes and intersections were flooded. A neighbor told him she had two inches of water in her house in western Amarillo.
Garcia says he and his wife had to leave their minivan three blocks from there house and wade home through about two feet of water.
Police and firefighters were working to rescue motorists whose cars stalled in the high waters. Heavy rains hit the Panhandle city Monday for the second straight day.
