A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Lee, and Leon Counties from 12am to 12pm THURSDAY. A strong cold front will reach the Brazos Valley by mid-afternoon to early evening TODAY. Mild temperatures are expected to sharply fall as strong, brisk north winds arrive. A scattered rain chance could turn into a scattered, wintry mix between 6am and Noon Thursday. Little-to-no accumulation is expected -- however, caution is urged driving on bridges and overpasses.
A Pflugerville man is dead following a one car rollover Tuesday morning near Hearne in Robertson County.
The accident happened just before 6 a.m. three miles south of Hearne.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the driver of a Mazda pickup was headed south on Highway 6, when he fell asleep, drifted off the roadway, then overcorrected and flipped several times.
The passenger, 24-year-old Christopher Bell of Pflugerville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, William Pounds, 23, also from Pflugerville, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, where he was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon.
South bound lanes of Highway 6 were closed for about four hours while crews cleaned up the scene.
