Brazos County commissioners approved the proposed budget Tuesday for fiscal year 2007 and set the budget hearings.
The proposed budget has gone up 2 percent from last year.
The public hearing regarding the budget is set for September 9 at 10 a.m. in the commissioners courtroom.
Tuesday commissioners also proposed to decrease the tax rate from 46.5, where it was this past year, to 45.5.
This is a penny lower, but it is still higher than the effective tax rate which stands at 43.59.
Public hearings, regarding the tax rate are scheduled for September 5 at 2 p.m. and September 8 at 2 p.m. in the commissioners courtroom.
