First comes the church, then the steeple.
Thursday, the First Baptist Church of Bryan celebrated the raising of the church's steeple.
"This is marking a very significant time for us and setting the steeple on this new facility puts the finishing touches on the outside of the building when we've got a lot of work still to do inside," Bill Wiman the Minister of Education at the First Baptist Church of Bryan said.
The celebration marks a joyous occasion for the congregation.
"Once again I think the heart of our church is that this is an opportunity for us to re-commit ourselves to our mission," First Baptist Church of Bryan Pastor Tim Owens said.
It took most of the day Thursday for the steeple to be put into place. It was finally set by 4 p.m.
"This church has 140 years of existance here in Bryan and we're just real excited that we can be a part of it," First Baptist Church of Bryan member Cynthia Benner said. "We can raise our children here."
