Cameron County prosecutors are trying to reach a deal with a former high school teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of her students.
Twenty-five-year-old Samantha Drash was scheduled to go on trial in May on charges of inappropriate relationship between educator and student and sexual assault of a child. But the case suffered after the student and his family refused to cooperate with authorities.
Prosecutors want Drash to give up her teaching certificate and abstain from contact with young boys.
Drash has denied any wrongdoing.
If an agreement can't be reached in the next two weeks, DA Armando Villalobos will take the case before a jury.
