An Oklahoma man who’s charged in the deaths of his girlfriend and her four children is jailed in Central Texas and faces extradition.
Joshua Steven Durcho, 25, is held without bond in Hamilton, northwest of Waco.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Durcho was caught Tuesday night after a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 36.
A check of Durcho's ID showed he was wanted in Oklahoma.
Durcho is charged with five counts of first-degree murder.
Police in El Reno, Okla., on Monday found the bodies of 25-year-old Summer Garas and her children in their apartment in the Oklahoma City suburb.
The three girls and a boy ranged in age from 3 to 7.
Investigators are seeking a motive for the killings.
Police aren't saying how the victims were slain.
DPS spokesman Tom Vinger said a trooper was headed to an accident when a car went by, the officer looked in the rearview mirror and noticed the car being driven erratically.
Vinger says the trooper turned around to go after the driver, and that's when Durcho's car hit a guardrail and went into a tree.
Vinger says Durcho probably was watching the trooper in his mirror and not paying attention to where he was going.
