A long night of searching Lake Madison for a drowning victim has come to an end. Around 8:35pm Wednesday, rescue crews recovered the body of a man who had been missing for two-and-a-half hours.
A call was placed to 911 just after 6pm. The incident happened near the lake's soccer fields on the north side.
Pending notification of next of kin, the victim's identity is being withheld. No word on how it happened or what the victim was doing at the time.
In addition to local officials, the Department of Wildlife, DPS, and Walker County's dive team were on the scene. A life-flight from Bryan was brought in to survey the lake from above, but that helicopter's crew wasn't able to spot anything.
