Lake Madison Drowning Victim Identified

Police have released the name of a Madisonville man who drowned at Lake Madison Wednesday night.

Crews recovered the body of Charles Gilbert Grounds, 37, around 8:30 p.m.

According to authorities, Grounds had been fishing on Wednesday and was missing for two-and-a-half hours before his body was discovered.

An autopsy has been ordered at the Conroe Medical Examiner's Office, but police say they don't suspect foul play.

The incident happened near the lake's soccer fields on the north side.

In addition to local officials, the Department of Wildlife, DPS, and Walker County's dive team were on the scene.
