A number of accidents caused major traffic tie-ups on several busy streets Thursday. One of those was on Highway 6, which had to be closed following the wreck of an 18-wheeler.
The accident took place between FM 159 and FM 2154 in southern Brazos County, and forced the shut down of parts of the road through the afternoon and evening.
The 18-wheeler appeared to have been heading north when it rolled partially off the road. There's still no word on what caused the accident.
The driver of the big rig was treated and released at the College Station Medical Center.
At around 5pm, authorities completely shut down Highway 6 in order to clear the 18-wheeler from the scene. The road remained closed until 8pm.
The Highway 6 accident happened around the same time as a pair of local accidents, one at Wellborn and Graham Roads, the other on Highway 49.
