A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Lee, and Leon Counties from 12am to 12pm THURSDAY. A strong cold front has reached the Brazos Valley, and will continue to push south through the early evening hours. Temperatures are expected to fall to or just above a freeze overnight. A scattered rain chance could turn into a scattered, wintry mix between 6am and 10am Thursday. Little-to-no accumulation is expected -- however, caution is urged driving on bridges and overpasses.
Opponents of the proposed "Animal ID" program argued their case in Brenham Thursday.
Dozens of farmers and ranchers turned out to hear critics of the program explain their objections. Among their points: an unnecessary cost and invasion of privacy.
The USDA says by 2009, all farm animals that are sold for food purposes must have an identification number.
