Texas Task Force 1 Headed Home

The local connections to Tropical Storm Ernesto are on their way home.

Texas Task Force 1 has been demobilized by FEMA after their week-long deployment. The unit was never engaged in its week-long deployment, though director Bob McKee says their trip to Atlanta proved to be good practice for future emergencies.

Task Force 1 was activated Monday and sent to the southeast. That was when then-Hurricane Ernesto showed signs of inflicting more damage than it did.

The team is scheduled to arrive back in College Station Sunday.
