As part of a special meeting Thursday afternoon, Bryan's city council heard from citizens on the proposed tax rate.
The rate itself is actually the same as last year's -- just over 63 cents. But with property values up, the city would actually get $867,000 more with current tax rate.
The ordinance on the tax rate will be read at the September 12 council meeting, with final approval set for September 26.
The second half of that meeting was concerning the vacant Bryan city manager position.
