Independent candidate for governor Kinky Friedman renewed his call for Texas to legalize casino gambling.
Speaking to reporters in Dallas Thursday, the author and entertainer said the move "is common sense." He said -- "It's crazy to have Louisiana gamblers mad at Oklahoma for taking away their Texans."
By that, he means Texas should let Texans gamble in Texas, rather than having neighboring states compete for their money.
He said he expects legalized casino gambling would generate a six (B) billion to eight (B) billion-dollar revenue stream for the state that could be used to support education and property-tax relief.
