Back in the Brazos Valley, the local festival celebrating the Hispanic Culture kicked off Saturday afternoon.
Fiestas Patrias cultural and educational event was held and the George Bush Presidential Library. Community leaders spoke and and mariachis took to the stage and played for the crowd.
The King and Queen of the celebration were named, and there was lots of dance productions and artwork.
Fiestas Patrias celebrates Mexican independence from Spain, and co-insides with Hispanic Heritage Month. And the celebration isn't over just yet. Sunday, a parade and festival will be held in Downtown Bryan.
