Building on its strong reputation for hispanic integration, Texas A&M marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Thursday morning's opening ceremony included members of the Professional Hispanic Network, Hispanic President's Council and A&M faculty. Several events have been scheduled throughout September to commemorate the observance.
Hispanic enrollment at A&M has jumped more than 19 percent in the past two years.
"Hispanic" magazine has named A&M one of the top 25 colleges for Latinos for four years in a row.
