Boys and Girls Club of America has started a program to bring parents and their children closer together.
The national effort is called "A Day for Kids." Saturday, clubs across the country hosted free events for parents and their children. In College Station, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley threw a party of sorts with the help of 36 local organizations.
"Research tells us kids want to get out and do physical activities with their parents," said Tiffany Parker with Boys and Girls Clubs. "They just want to be kids with their parents."
Children and parents were able to meet members of the community, including bryan and college station law enforcement, and A&M Consolidated cheerleaders.
A Day for Kids will be held the third Saturday in September from now on.
