While severe thunderstorms affect us in the Brazos Valley year-round, Mother Nature is known to throw most of her curve balls in the spring months of March through June.

As it is referred to, Severe Weather season identifies the time of year when the potential for severe thunderstorms and severe weather outbreaks increase.

Despite the designation of a season, severe thunderstorms can affect us in the Brazos Valley throughout the entire year.

Since 1950, we have seen 309 tornadoes, 833 hail reports and 1018 reports of damaging winds in the Brazos Valley *. That breaks down to 37 actual severe weather incidents per year.

Join News 3 over the next week as we highlight the different types of weather we experience in the Brazos Valley. Find out how to stay safe in the storm and watch as we introduce you to some of the newest technology you can use to ensue that you have the fastest access to what could be live-saving information.

Is there a source of severe weather events per year and per county (or even more specific geographic info of severe events)?
