Operation No Refusal Weekend came to an end Sunday morning in College Station. Statistics sent out by College Station Police show there were 25 arrests over the last four nights. Here's a breakdown of the arrests:

D.W.I. 22
Minor D.U.I. 3
Breathalyzer 17
Forced Blood Draw 8

During this four night sweep, 6 additional officers were out on the streets of College Station looking for DWI offenses. Those who would not consent to a breath test or blood sample were then required to a mandatory blood draw. Judges were on standby to sign search warrants for the blood draw. Police say this operation was in conjunction with Chilliest weekend. Police say they will look at re-instituting the policy during New Years Eve weekends and possibly big Texas A&M football game weekends.

"they'd rather yell jail overcrowding than to build and staff new ones." I kind of liked the program that Dallas Judge was running till the ACLU got on his case; A couple of years wearing an ankle monitor that detects alcohol through the skin and "phones home" once a day to tattle, paid for BY THE DRUNK! It can't tell with any accuracy how much the guy has drunk, but anything over a BAC of about 0.02 is detectable for at least an hour, which the anklet remembers for a week and reports when the guy (or gal) plugs it into the phone. He fails to hook it up once a day or pops positive and he gets max jail time...for those who claim they really, really DO want to quit but just slip when nobody's looking, it's called INCINTIVE.

"they'd rather yell jail overcrowding than to build and staff new ones. What a boost to the economy that would be, new jails would mean a lot of drinkers off the roads, and lots of jobs for staff." ARE YOU SERIOUS?! what about these millions of dollars the county is spending to build this brand spanking new jail behind the sandy point jail? get real.

If having people swerving or showing signs of being drunk are pulled over and having a forced blood draw done is a violation of the US rights, then so is taking DNA from anyone suspected of killing another. What's good for one is good for another. I mostly hope that they will continue to do this so no more people die. Maybe all bar parking lots should have those closing arm things on them with an auto breathalizer so you can't take your car out of the parking lot unless you blow a legal driving limit. Or would that be violating your rights as well to get away with drunken driving? I'm glad that they caught the 25 people for DWI and hopefully they'll do this for every big celebration, Cinco de Mayo, New Years, Christmas Eve, St. Patrick's Day, and every weekend for that matter.
