Sam Houston State University's Million Dollar Investment
One million dollars are being allocated to a Navy research project being conducted at Sam Houston State University.
The university's Intelligent Systems Consortium is a partnership with the United States Navy to conduct experiments to discover and develop cost effective techniques in building naval ships. The one million dollar government funding would help the consortium to continue and extend their research to produce efficient technological equipment to be installed on board those ships.
The money will come from a Department of Defense appropriations conference report that is part of a bill expected to be signed by President Bush. For the past two years, the Navy and Sam Houston State University have been working together to make naval ships more reliable.
