Saturday marked the last day for Banned Books Awareness Week.
Half-Priced Books on Texas Avenue invited the public out to hear banned books read aloud. Volunteers at the store took turns reading from books that have been banned by school districts.
Planners for the event wanted to emphasize that literature as a whole is an engine to share new and different viewpoints. It was also a why to show support for First Amendment rights.
