Teens Killed In Freak Lake Whitney Accident Identified Authorities late Wednesday morning identified the two teenagers who were “mudding” with friends at Lake Whitney died when their truck plunged off a 30-foot cliff and into the lake. A fisherman who witnessed the crash tried to rescue the teens, but couldn’t reach them because the truck’s doors were locked.

LAKE WHITNEY (April 15, 2009)-- Whitney High School students Zach Stout, 18, and Brandon Shelton, 16, were killed Tuesday night when their truck plunged off of a 30-foot cliff and landed in Lake Whitney.

Lt. Larry Armstrong of the Hill County Sheriff's Office told News 10 the accident happened at around 4:45 p.m. near Harmony Point on Lake Whitney.

The two were, "mudding" and "doing donuts," both of which were described as reckless, off-road type activities, when the truck, a single cab Dodge pickup truck, went off the edge of the cliff, Armstrong said.

An eyewitness told authorities the teenager later identified as Stout hit the back window when the truck landed upside down in the water; it wasn't known if he and Shelton were wearing seat belts.

The witness, who was fishing at the time of the accident, attempted to rescue the two teens, but was not able to break any of the windows.

Both doors were locked.

The bodies of both teens have been sent to Dallas for autopsy.

Zak and Brandon yall will b deeply missed. This is Jahni Garrett and yall new me for a long time and im really torn up about this yall were so goofy and cool to me and everybody else that knew u guys and i really hope that yallz family is pulling through cuz alot of people know what they are going through. God bless their hearts and souls. I cried when i heard the news. and Brandon those people that did your face like that should be ashamed cuz alot of people was ticked off. But we already have your photo in our memory so u will neve be forgotten by any of us. Same for you Zak because i know you had a big heart just like Brandon. Im glad yall are in a better place and we had lots of memorieds but it hurts just because now we cant make anymore. But we love and miss yall for real though! SEE YOU LATER YALL!!!!!!!

i would just like to say that he was my family and when i found out i startedto cry and did not stop until we went to his funarl and when i went up to the open casket i started to cry even worse cause he did not look like his goofy self that i knew. i felt so sad for bobby and gean shelton the parents of brandon shelton they loved him so much and loosing him i cant imagine what they are going through loosing the son...... well i love you Brandon Shelton and you will never be forgotton by anyone that new you cause you made everyone laugh even if they diddnt want to you were a sweet gentlemen and that is what you are remembered by cause you where the most niciest person that i ever knew. I LOVE YOU BRANDON SHELTON!!!!!!!!
