Nearly 800 so-called tea parties were scheduled across the United States Wednesday, to protest big government, high taxes and spending policies under the Obama administration.

April 15th is the traditional deadline to file taxes. Protesters at many of the rallies held signs with letters "T", "E" and "A", an abbreviation for "Taxed Enough Already."

The rallies were designed to echo the original Boston Tea Party more than 235 years ago.

At least four protests were held in the Brazos Valley.

At Texas A&M, students could dunk an IRS agent or enjoy some iced-tea, compliments of student group Young Conservatives of Texas.

In Bryan, protestors had to park and walk down the street to Tanglewood park, because there were so many of them. Organizers of the grass roots tea party used facebook, to spread the word.

"I'm here because I'm sick of the government that's running this country," said V.V. Turner, of Hearne.

Turner drove from Hearne to attend a rally at Veteran's Park, in College Station.

Many attendees voiced their disliked for Washington's $797 billion stimulus package, and President Obama's $3 trillion budget.

"You don't just start giving away money, you don't just take from the person that's out there working hard every day," said Peggy Gaylord, of Iola.

Around 300 people made it to Veteran's Park, all asking Washington to reign in the spending.

"They're spending it like its water flowing out the tap that its never ending. They can't print money fast enough," said Brent Woodley, of Keith.
