OVERVIEW:

4-6 inches of rain will be possible across the Brazos Valley through Saturday evening as a slow-moving storm system moves across the state. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the region through Saturday evening.

BLOG/UPDATES:

9:52 PM: Dense fog will be possible across the region Sunday morning. With all the rain we have received over the past two days, the wet grounds will lead to fog development. A cold front will move across the region Sunday morning, putting an end to any fog development after frontal passage.

Rodney Harris

6:35 PM All watches have been dropped for the Brazos Valley with the exception of a Flood Watch that is still in effect for Austin and Waller counties until 9pm Saturday. This will round out of severe weather coverage this evening as things clear out and sunny skies return for Sunday.

-Blake Mathews

1:49 PM: The Tornado Watch has been canceled for Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Trinity, Walker and Washington counties.

The Tornado Watch is still in effect for Austin, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Waller counties until 4:00 p.m.

Rodney Harris

1:41 PM: The Tornado Watch has been canceled for Leon county.

1:19 PM: Our latest dewpoint map shows a dryline in west Texas. The dryline separates dry air behind it from moist air ahead of it. Once this boundary moves east of the region -- later tonight -- the chance of rain will end. Until then, with plenty of moisture still around, the threat of a few storms will continue.

Rodney Harris

1:04 PM: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Montgomery county until 2:45 p.m.

12:56 PM: Our latest analysis shows that much the precipitation has shifted southeast of Bryan/College Station. Walker, San Jacinto, Montgomery, Waller and Austin counties will continue to see some rain through at least 2 p.m.

I'm noticing a few showers that are trying to develop in Central Texas -- from near Waco down to Robertson county. The atmosphere over Bryan/College Station has become stable as a result of the earlier thunderstorms. However, new discrete thunderstorm development cannot be ruled out this afternoon, as the center of our storm system is still west of the region. The rain chances will remain in the forecast until this system moves east of us tonight.

Rodney Harris

12:16 PM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Montgomery and San Jacinto counties until 1:00 p.m.

12:11 PM: A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington counties until 4:00 p.m.

11:53 AM: Another wave of rain is moving northward through Washington and southern Burleson, Grimes and Brazos counties. If this rain doesn't weaken, it will reach Bryan/College Station by 12:30 p.m.

Rodney Harris

9:35 AM: A TORNADO WARNING is in effect for Grimes, Madison and Walker counties until 10:00 a.m.

9:34 AM: A TORNADO WARNING is in effect for Leon and Robertson counties until 10:15 a.m.

7:55 AM: As I'm sure most of you in College Station already know, some of these storms have some dangerous lightning associated with them. If you encounter a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning in a short period of time, remember it's best to just stay indoors until the thunder sounds like a distant rumble.

Rodney Harris

7:45 AM: Milam county officials are reporting thunderstorm wind damage -- roof/structural damage to a barn near Rosebud.

Rodney Harris

7:39 AM: Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across the Brazos Valley through at least noon today. Our biggest concern is for the threat of additional flash flooding. More rain -- in addition to the precipitation from Friday -- will run-off easily, which may cause potential travel problems in some locations.

The severe weather threat should be confined to small hail today, but isolated stronger storms can't be ruled out.

Rodney Harris

7:38 AM: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Lee county until 10:45 a.m.

7:32 AM: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Milam and Robertson counties has been canceled.

7:24 AM: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison and Waller counties until 11:00 a.m.

7:14 AM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is in effect for Milam and Robertson counties until 7:45 a.m.

Friday, April 17

7:07 PM: The threat of severe thunderstorms has decreased for the remainder of the evening. A few storms will remain possible over the next few hours, however, most of are won't see any more significant rain until Saturday morning.

Rodney Harris

7:00 PM: A strong thunderstorm is currently moving into western Robertson county between Bremond and Calvert. Frequent lightning and small hail can be expected with the storm as it moves across Robertson county.

Rodney Harris

5:38 PM: Marble and nickel size hail was reported in Lexington (Lee county).

Rodney Harris

5:22 PM: Correction. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Austin and Waller counties until 10:00 p.m.

Rodney Harris

5:19 PM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is in effect for Lee county until 5:45 p.m. for a storm capable of producing large hail in northern Lee county near Lexington.

5:01 PM: All severe weather advisories -- including the tornado watch -- have expired.

FL. Flood Warnings and watches remain in effect.

Rodney Harris

4:53 PM: A Flood Watch has been extended for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington counties until 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

4:48 PM: We are now watching new storm development in Central Texas. We will continue to monitor this activity for intensity and movement to determine whether or not it will be a threat to the Brazos Valley this morning.

Rodney Harris

4:46 PM: Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across the region through 7 p.m. The activity should start to decrease in coverage this evening.

A Flash Flood threat will continue from Bryan/College Station south and eastward through the remainder of the evening.

A severe weather threat will continue for Grimes, Montgomery, Waller and San Jacinto counties.

Rodney Harris

4:26 PM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Grimes, Montgomery and Waller counties until 5:00 p.m.

4:04 PM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been extended for Montgomery county until 5:00 p.m.

Rodney Harris

4:00 PM: A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Austin county until 4:45 p.m.

3:55 PM: The Tornado Watch for Austin and Waller counties has been canceled.

2:58 PM: We just updated the rainfall forecast from 1-3 inches to 4-6 inches -- overall -- as a lot of locations have picked up between 2-5 inches already.

Rodney Harris

2:45 PM Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for Austin and Washington counties until 3:45 pm. The warning is for Brazos and Burleson until 5:30 pm and Lee County 6:15 pm. Excessive rainfall has been reported all over. As much as 6-10" of rainfall has been reported in some areas!!

We're still getting reports of damage all over Brenham. Windows blown out, numerous signs/trees down, and the roof blown off of Hartz Chicken amongst other damage. We'll update as we know more.

-Blake Mathews

the ditch at the end of our street is about 2 feet up our neighbors fence, and yesterday, it was around 3.5 feet up around noon. The ditch running along Rio Grande was a half a foot from coming on to the road.
