Franklin Man Says Funnel Touched Down in Yard

Depending on the location, Saturday morning's storms either made for good sleeping weather, or had Brazos Valley residents taking cover.
In Robertson County Saturday morning, utility crews were a familiar sight. Morning storms tore off part of a mobile home, and moved a metal carport into the trees.
"The first thing I seen this morning was the screen door and there it is," said Franklin resident Don Goldman.
Goldman said he spotted a funnel cloud around 9am.
"I saw the tail of it, it was just there and it was there and it was gone, it was just that quick," said Goldman.
Whatever it was, it toppled a cedar. Goldman is just glad his truck was in the shop.
"My truck would have been sitting right there," said Goldman.
The storm blew out some back windows in his daughter's room.
"It took this whole apartment and just kinda shook it," said Goldman.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, and by mid-afternoon, the chainsaw engines were revving.
Amid the commotion, Maintenance manager Patrick McDaniels found an egg and a baby bird.
"Is it a girl?" asked his daughter.
McDaniels and neighborhood kids hope to eventually send both birds off, after making nests.
"He's probably terrified, I would be," said McDaniels.
Its likely the bird wasn't the only one feeling that way, during Saturday morning's storms.
