A bike rider was struck and killed Monday night as he was riding across a Bryan highway.

According to Bryan Police, Willie George Williams Jr., 52, was crossing East Highway 21 near Gooseneck just before 9 p.m. when he was hit by an 18-wheeler.

BPD officials say the man was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Regional Health Center after being worked on by first responders on the way to the hospital.

An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation into the accident continues.

To anonymous thanks for stating that he has benn to jail that many times so he deserves to die oh to help you understand a little better he rode a BICYCLE most of his life!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FEELING THAT WAY! Well you know he does have family that love and care about him and im one of them. and just like classmate said: he was caring and sweet person!!! That is very rude for you to say such a thing about someone maybe you have never hadd anyone to die but when that day come and one of your close RELATIVES HEAD IS COLD AND THEIR BODY IS IN THE GROUND THEN MAYBE YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND! But you know that is just down right rude and disrespectful because for you to post something like that at a time when his family(we) are grieving. But I will pray for you because you need all GODS help! thanks to all of you for your prayers!!!

To Classmate: Williams did not put much value on his own life if he had been to jail 67 times and made the unwise choice to ride a bicycle on a highway when it is dark.

Riding a bike on the road ISN'T illegal most places, just really dangerous in an area with narrow or nonexistent shoulders. This area is bad and so was Welborne to Millican before they added the shoulders. They may need to do something similar to what they did there, especially if gas keeps getting more expensive.
