If you've driven around Bryan, chances are you've seen some very interesting billboards popping up. No clear message, no advertisement, just random images, colors, and words.
We started wondering what these signs meant and so did you. After receiving several emails, News 3 decided to investigate.
With no real direction to start, we planned our course of action and went to each and every sign only to find dead ends.
Even on Highway 6 you'll find these mysterious billboards, every one has a little Aztec flair to it. But the question remains, what are they for and is there a hidden meaning?
"There's no hidden messages," said Johnny Burns of Lamar Advertising.
"We were contacted by an art professor at Rice University and what they did is have a design contest in their art class. The winners are displayed around town," said Burns.
So the art will remain in Bryan for a few weeks, but one has got to wonder: why B/CS?
"The closest boards I had to Rice and Houston were here," said Burns.
And as the art continues to turn heads, a lot of us will continue wondering what it all means.
"Being an Aggie myself, it confuses me, but it is interesting stuff," joked Burns.
You can find the signs on FM 2818 near Turkey Creek, Highway 6 North before OSR, Villa Maria at College, Highway 21 near the Sheriff's Office, and on William Joel Bryan at Villa Maria.

I just hope that this "art" is funded by private dollars and not by tax money. One person’s art is another person’s trash.
