A 25-year-old former Fort Bliss soldier who’s charged with capital murder in the beating death of her 22-month-old son was jailed without bond Thursday in El Paso County after pleading not guilty.
Monea Boyd was arraigned Wednesday in the December death of her son, Jayceon Astro Tyson.
The medical examiner found Jayceon had brain swelling and retinal hemorrhages associated with shaking or impact trauma.
The El Paso Times reported that Boyd denied hurting her son.
She said he became ill, choked on his own vomit and then injured himself.
Boyd is originally from Denver and was honorably discharged from the Army.
She said Child Protective Services terminated her parental rights after her arrest in January.

This is disgusting to hear of two stories in the same day of babies being killed. I hope for her soul's sake, she's telling the truth. Her story doesn't seem likely, but I suppose if the voices in your head can tell you NOT to kill someone, then it's possible that this is truth as well. Ugh. I'm just glad that none of these "accidents" ever happened to my children. God bless and look over all of the babies and small ones in the world.
So Sad...RIP little angel.
This is so sad. How could anyone do such horrible thing to their own child. It's ashame you have to do that to some little angel that couldn't defend themselves. You deserve to rot in jail.
