A cold front will approach the Brazos Valley later today. Isolated areas of rain and thunderstorms could develop along and ahead of that front between mid-afternoon and early evening. Good news: rain & storm activity will be quick moving (1 hour or less). Bad news: a few severe thunderstorms are possible with large hail and strong, damaging winds being the main concern. A brief, isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, as well.
Tuesday was a busy day at the Brazos County Tax Office, as last minute residents registered to vote in the November election.
Kristeen Roe, chief deputy at the Brazos County Tax Office, said they received 439 new applications on Tuesday, totaling 1,139 new applications since September 1.
More are expected in the coming days as applications arrive by mail and from deputy voter registrars.
According to officials, registration numbers are close to the numbers from four years ago, during the last gubernatorial election.
More than 87,000 residents are registered to vote in Brazos County.
Election day is November 7th, with early voting beginning October 23rd.
